TUESDAY BRIEFING belated
5-6-03

COMPLETED
1. At LONG last the DSL is connected. I talked with MANY tech support people to get it to work. But the speed is very SLOW. It is much slower than a dial up. They tested the line and it was fine.
2. They suggested that a phone company technician look at the wires here. This apartment was built in the 1940s. It has the original connection box. They can no longer get parts. The tech said that someone had bypassed the fuse and just loosely twisted the wires. He was amazed that I did not have static on my phone line. Then he replaced the phone jack because the screws were corroded. He installed a jack so new that he had never seen that model. He removed a very old ringer that he said was used for the hearing impaired. The phone line passed through this device. Both of us expected improvement. But there was none. I took a stopwatch to it. And it takes 50 to 90 seconds to open my email or go between web sites. That is NOT the lighting fast speed that they advertised.
3. A friend has offered to give me a used computer they are not using. This could come on Monday. Maybe that will bring an improvement.
4. God has used me to distribute hundreds of copies of the free book on prayer called PRAYERAPHRASES on the seminary campus. Along the way I gave some to those in the office of the president. He likes it so much that he requested copies for the board members (35) and for all the graduates (300). It is wonderful to imagine what God will do with this small book that has more than 500 brief prayers by Spurgeon, Tozer and others like them. Also there are hundred of more coming to me to pass on to others.
CURRENT
A. Pains in my right hand, arm and shoulder blade. It is along the line of a nerve. I do not recall injuring it. But when working on the computer it can flare. Please pray. Things like this have gone away in the past just due to prayer. I suspect that it is just another attack to keep me off the web.
B. For more than a year and a half God has met my financial needs each month in a different way. More than half has been by a paycheck and half by serving others and donations. This month has required some unusual juggling. Some of the saints I have been serving the most have even less money than I do. They cannot afford to give. It is hard to raise funds for the personalize work I have been doing. I have requested more hours each week on the clock to relieve the rent pressure. Also I hope to put on the web a way for people to give 5 to 50 dollars. I trust that some will give.
C. Organizing the home office has continued. It is getting neater. God is providing all kinds of organizational aids for free and very low prices at yard sales. Recently acquired two floor lamps, two small tables, a nice rack to store the CDs, nine stackable IN and OUT boxes, one tiny and one medium sized white boards, a sturdy handmade book case, and hanging files box.
D. Much time has been invested recently in inputting the 3 by 5 cards into the Palm software on the laptop computer. This forces me to think in terms of categories and priorities. Those have gone into the To Do section. I have begun to use the Date function. My life has been getting more complicated. I cannot remember all the To Do and calendar events like I did. And the future seems to hold yet more complication. SO I need to learn to use this software are well as I use Power Point or Word.
UPCOMING
i. Graduation is this Saturday. I will be taking digital still and video pictures for some friends who are graduates. Pray for God to guide and bless these efforts. I have been invited to two parties after graduation. I have tried to arrange rides but this has not come together yet. Please pray for this.
ii. I was invited to go to an all day seminar for church planters. It is the same one in Keller that I attended last year. It was very informative. It gave me many ideas about how to use the web to serve those that are planting a church or seek to develop an existing one. Transportation is provided. It is a stretch for me time and money wise. I need God to confirm or correct this guidance.
iii. The junk in my life keeps swirling. Most of the dust has settled from the move into the apartment. I do not need to wait for ideal conditions before starting to track the commitment to invest 15 hours a week to prepare a 15 minute Power Point presentation, 15 page business plan and show these face to face to 15 people. That will provide momentum and money. Let that begin next week after the graduation complications have past.
iv. I committed to begin to use the Excel spreadsheet starting on May 1st but that has not happened yet. It is difficult to get started into the habit I have avoided and fail at before. Please pray for a break through.
v. After the DSL is connected then the Tuesday Briefings will be shorter because I will put more on the blogs.
vi. Continue to pray for my relationship with my coach, Cathi. God has been using her in wonderful ways to help me gain focus and perspective.
ENCOURAGEMENT
Be encouraged that God is forever faithful … God exists outside of time … God dwells in eternity … God chose the create matter, space, time, earth, animals, people etc. for His purposes … God knows all about the enemy and his tactics … the father of lies tries to deceive but the sure Word of God is totally reliable … the God breathed scriptures have been tested and proved by millions of saints over the centuries … God knows all about the weakness of flesh … even the most dedicated, educated, experienced and zealous person will stumble … ALL we like sheep have gone astray but the Lord laid on the spotless Lamb EVERY sin of EVERY human for ALL time … the perfect provision for the grossest and least sins were made ONE time on the Cross … the shed blood of Jesus Christ cries MERCY … as a born again child of God you are accepted in the beloved TODAY and for ALL eternity … you can NEVER grasp the goodness of God until you are translated from this enemy territory and brought into His holy presence in your resurrection body … when ALL has been said and done YOU will know in your heart of hearts that God had been faithful to keep His promises … thus it is wise to fear God and keep His commandments TODAY… Amen?
Go forth in the peace of God … rejoice in who the triune God is and what He has done …seek and find opportunities to communicate the truth in love … sow good seeds in good soils … water and weed as needed … witness God bringing the increase ... expect a bountiful harvest in His time … as an ambassador, share the message of reconciliation while you have the chance … be bold when you testify about Jesus … love one another even better … Amen?
