TUESDAY BRIEFING
5-13-03
ALL glory to God in Jesus Name!
May the love of God overflow from your heart daily.
May God grant you a few wonderful friends.
May each moment with your best friends be magnified.
Amen?
COMPLETED
1. THANKS for your prayers. God provided a ride to graduation. It was nearly the last minute. And I had turned it over to God completely. It was wonderful to see the two dozen graduates that I knew well and many more that I knew as acquaintances. After the graduation there were no arrangements about where to meet the family form Africa. I looked all over the crowded area with the 300 graduates with their family and friends. Then I felt gently prompted to go to the reception for the man from India. Along that path I walked right by the man from Africa I had been seeking for a long while. I took many photos of him with his happy family. Plus I had a little time for the reception.
2. After the gradation I was invited to lunch unexpectedly. That was one of the best meals in months. The food and the fellowship were both delicious.
3. That evening the man who had been ill, was healthy enough to offer a ride for a dear friend that is going to Scotland for this PhD studies. I will miss him. At the party God used me to video the parting comment of his friends. This reminds me of how some relationships are so fleeing. We are wise to seize the day. Maximize the joy from each moment with a friend.
4. I received a surprise call on Sunday during my nap. As I was waking I prayed thank you God for that person that is calling. It turns out to have been the campus police. I had accidentally dropped my wallet at the cafeteria in the Baylor hospital that is near the campus. It had my employee ID. The hospital police returned it to the campus police. They looked up my phone number in our system to call me. Al the cash was there and so were the debit cards. Thank God.
5. The pain from my right hand and along a nerve up my right arm to my right shoulder blade has almost disappeared.
6. Last week I was given a third halogen floor lamp. The ceiling fan broke and was replaced. The new fan has a bright light while the previous one had none. About a month ago I was praying from more light in the home office. It went suddenly from dark and dreary to bright and cheerful. I enjoy working in a well lit environment.
CURRENT
A. The small church where I have been meeting is in transition. The lease will expire at the end of July. We are seeking for an option. The most favorable option today is to meet in a Sunday Scholl room of Grace Methodist at the corner of Haskell and Junius. Please pray for the future of Grace Life Fellowship. May the Good Shepherd guide His sheep to good pastures.
B. The DSL connection has improved. At first it took 90 seconds between web sites. Then after talking to various service technicians it got down to 60 seconds. The phone company came out and I talked with more experts. Now it is at 30 seconds. The norm for DSL would be 7 to 12 seconds. May God guide me in what to do and how to do it.
C. Major bills got paid on time at the first of the month. Now juggling minor bills. I am playing telephone tag with former donors. God will make a way for groceries and other needs until the next paycheck.
D. The zillion index cards have been entered into the Palm software. Now the challenge is to get into the habit of using this.
UPCOMING
i. I have told my accountability partners that I will be going over the previous Tuesday Briefings and other notes to commit to specific action steps and to develop more healthy habits.
ii. Sooner than later I need to move toward the 15 hours a week in preparing the presentations for the fund raising of the ministry.
iii. My tendency is to plan far more than I can accomplish in a week. So I am back to FOCUS. May God use my coach Cathi, to help me with this.
ENCOURAGEMENT
Recently I have been writing an essay on Biblical Principles on Finding God’s Direction. This is the fruit of many years. I wish I had encountered this information along the way. By next week I hope to post it on the web site.
RESOURCES
God has brought another free book into my life. The author is a DST grad named Jobe Martin. He was a dentist who taught at the Baylor dental school. His Christian students challenged him to scientifically prove evolution to them. He expected that this would be easy. He was shocked and upset to find that evolution is based on false assumptions and poor reasoning. Over the course of three years he became a creationist and a believer. He goes his ThM at DTS and has been traveling around the country with his wife presenting the evidence for creation to various audiences.
His bachelors was in biology. He uses evidence of how various animals are designed to defy the theory of evolution. He has two excellent videos. The book Evolution of a Creationist has recently been revised and much was added. If you would like a copy then you can come to the Help Desk and pick one up for yourself and your friends. You can go to the web site to learn more about he videos and ministry www.biblicaldiscipleship.org
The videos were donated to the library and may take two moths before they are ready to circulate.
If you are out of town and want a free copy then let me know and I will send one.
