TUESDAY BRIEFING
7-29-03
ALL glory to God in Jesus Name!
May the truth of the Word of God resonate in your soul.
May you courageously take the next step of faith in following Jesus.
May you give and receive agape love with committed believers often.
Amen?
COMPLETED
1. By the grace of God I have been continuing with Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Many books on my shelves were not engaging enough to motivate me to complete them. This is an excellent overview of the Christian life. And it has been very helpful. Several days a week I read some, journal and pray. For me it is a great review and it has challenging parts.
2. Begun new support group on SUN afternoon using the first of the five Life Together workbooks. This material is based on Purpose Driven Life. Two people at first meeting and two have been invited to join.
3. Anonymous donor gave an excellent CD that has a blend of instrumental music and nature sounds. Title of the CD is Solitude: Natural Stress Relief
4. Visited the lagoon in Fair Park last week for the fist time in years. Very relaxing and refreshing to just observe God’s creation up close.
5. Recently bought a balance ball and have begun to use it. This is to help with stretching and flexing. Previously I needed to quit reading or working on the computer due to strain in my neck and shoulders. This will strengthen that area and other muscle groups.
6. Lost much sleep one night last week due to pains in my right wrist, elbow and shoulder. This came from only a few hours on the computer. This motivated me to shop more carefully for an ergonomic mouse and an ergonomic desk.
CURRENT
A. There are MANY changes happening in my life. Maybe a few more than normal. The Holy Spirit has reminded of the Serenity Prayer. The short version says God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. I have used this as a frequent prayer during such turbulent times before.
B. Gathered many pages from various sources to pull together a simple and central flow chart for the next few weeks and months of my pilgrimage. Often I have noticed how each part relates to the other. Some things need to be completed before others can start. Some can progress on parallel tracks. I have been reacting to the squeaky wheels and not taking care of the more important but quieter projects. May God grant wisdom, insights and support in this area.
UPCOMING
i. The refurbished desktop computer is acting silly. I plan to exchange it for a new one before the 30 day limit 8-18. I hope to also afford a three year warrantee then.
ii. The laptop with six month of data in limbo is back at my home. Pray for God to guide me in what to do next. May the data be recovered soon.
iii. For two years God has met my needs in a different way each month. Most of my income is from the seminary paycheck but part is from consulting fees and donations. Rent for August is around the corner and not sure how that end will meet. But I have no doubt that God will make a way. Kindly pray.
iv. Made MUCH progress in the use of the Franklin Covey paper planner in order to better organize my daily activities. THANKS for your prayers on this. Need to continue with this and improve while ALSO coordinating this with my goals and priorities. That is easer said than done. But God’s grace is sufficient. Thankfully I have LOTS of accountability and support in place.
