LONG Text
1-17-05
THANKS for your prayers the work on the scroll went well on Saturday. It did not unfold the way I expected. But in some ways it was better.
I expected to line out a long paper scroll by the end to the day. But it took all the day and night to gather all my notes and put them into an approximate order in my computer. I transcribed most of the key ideas from the first scroll. I copied and pasted key parts of my research notes from the web searches and mind maps into a LONG outline. It was 33 pages long. But then most of that outline has one word or phrase on a line.
Maybe in the coming weeks I will make another scroll based on the revisions and feed back that God will send. It helps me to sometimes see, feel and touch a large piece of paper instead of just a computer monitor. When I did share the first scroll with a few friends they understood in ways I could not pass along to them just verbally.
PRUNE
TODAY I will begin to PRUNE that outline. I will keep the original version for future reference. The revised version may be about one third of the original. One third can be supplemental materials that are developed later and one third can be set aside as not related to this project.
Along the way I came across a template in Word for a business plan. It was both inspiring and intimidating. It showed me how business people use LONG text documents to communicate all the key parts in an orderly fashion. This 40-page example was what an entrepreneur would use to apply for a bank loan. Obviously it is commercial oriented as contrasted to the ministry-oriented proposal I am writing. But there are several parts that I can adapt to meet the current challenge.
WRITE
The primary audiences of this LONG text document are business leaders and major donors that have read such materials. This kind of documentation is needed to secure many thousand dollars.
This will serve as the backbone of the next forms of presentation. I will send it out as an email attachment and ask people to forward it to others. Also I will print it out to pass it along to key people. I will divide it into parts and use it as the text of the new web site.
I will ask for feed back in the forms of comments, suggestions and questions.
My challenge is to keep it simple. This can be focused. I ask for your prayers to have MUCH anointed time of CONCENTRATION.
I have made many informal verbal presentations in person and over the phone. Within a very few minutes people get the Big Idea. So I need to CAPTURE those verbal words and put them into print.
My tendency is to give too many details and try to over sell. I need to be faithful to sketch out what God has put on my heart. Then TRUST Him to raise up the generous donors.
I can post an initial draft on a blog soon for your prayers and comments.
