CURRENT FOCUS
1-24-05

Current focus is on making the visual aids related to Our Compassionate Response as the lead project for the emerging ministry named Four Bridges. For example today I met a friend in the lobby of the neighborhood bank. I had not seen him for a long time. In quickly catching him up with the ministry I used diagrams on the 3 by 5 index cars I always carry. This took a few minutes. I kept those cards as reminders. I have done this many times in the last month. Now I need to do the same illustrations on Power Point slides.

Also the focus is to make a list of prospective donors and call them to set appointments.

I need anointed concentration to quickly get the basic visual aids ready. I need courage and strength to call and set the appointments.

POINTS
Before Thanksgiving I was using the point system to measure my progress in making face-to-face presentations. Do you remember? 1 point for setting the appointment, 2 points for making the presentation, 3 points for asking for the contribution and 4 points for securing the commitment. That is but a simple and profound way to stay on track. Then it is easy to quickly notice from week to week how well things are going.

During the holidays most people got involved with travel and family. SO I concentrated on the new web site and related materials. www.fourbridges.org

I was ready to go at the first of the year BUT the tsunami had caught the attention of everyone. That event was much larger than any previous natural disaster in my lifetime. The core of the vision calls for a blend of benevolence, evangelism and discipleship. My biggest challenge had been to get people to even consider benevolence as part of their Christian faith. Then along comes this golden opportunity when millions are already motivated.

Like I had expected the needs continue over there but the interest is becoming scattered over here. There are various ways to create long term support that are in the long text presentation and blogs that are linked to it.

Last year when I met with people in their office or at lunch I used a combination of letter size and laminated visual aids. I also had poster size and laminated mind maps. When we were done everyone was delighted to get a comb bound paper summary with a CD that had the visual aids.

So I have completed the text version that is about eight pages long. A friend helped greatly by boiling that down to a one page executive summary.

This week I am concentrating on the visual aids that I will use both during the face-to-face meetings and as the Power Point slide shows for the videos over the web. So you will see it too.

I have been thinking in terms of telling the story with text in a linear way. Now I am changing gears to tell the story with diagrams, pictures and bullet points. They are similar but different. I have done this before with other projects. Now I am learning to lean on Jesus in a fresh way to get His guidance and inspiration.

As usual the challenge is to keep it simple.

Writing these messages to you is sometimes like thinking out loud. I need to crystallize the many thoughts and feelings. After I have stated it to you clearly it is easier to act upon. Plus God uses your prayers to help pave the way.

The enemy has not gone on vacation. He is still a liar. His temptations have gotten more overt and subtler. I must be close to a breakthrough because he is fighting me every step of the way. The mental and emotional strain has been much more than ususal.

FINANCES
God has made a way for my financial needs to be met so far. I trust that He will continue to supply my needs. I feel led to quickly convert anxiety about these matters into instant prayers that are based on the precious promises of the Bible.

The solution to my financial troubles is the same as it has been for many years. I need to face my giants and go to the wealthy donors. A BIG part of my heart is CONVINCED that more than enough of them will be delighted to make generous donations. My challenge is to stay focused on getting in front of as many qualified prospects as possible.

One way to do that is to also speak to small groups with the view to both enrolling more intercessors and setting up appointments with individual donors.

MANY LINKS
1-24-05

Recently several people have told me how much they enjoy the links I have sent them. A little appreciation goes a long ways with me. I have felt encouraged and motivated to not only continue this practice but take it to the next level.

And sharing web links is an important part of the emerging ministry. One of the five services of Four Bridges Ministry is Networking Hub

Let be begin with how I have been doing this. I surf the web day and night. I come across web sites that I believe others may enjoy so I copy the URL on an email to myself. In the subject line I abbreviate that this is for Tuesday Briefing. Yet lately I have not sent out Tuesday Briefings each week. So there is a backlog of links to share. Thus the list that follows is the over flow.

While doing wide and deep research on the Internet about the tsunami and the updates of the relief efforts I have come upon many sites that I want to go back to later. Plus there are many that will serve the intercessors and donors.

On Sunday afternoons I like to do online Christian studies like apologetics, Bible studies, church history, etc. Yesterday I sought and found MANY wonderful sites that both I will use in the future and that I will share with others in the coming months.

I have begun to use Furl www.furl.net to collect and organize these. You can access my public links. There are private links you cannot see. Use the following link to see them all in the order they were entered. This is not a very user-friendly view. So you can go to from this view to My Archive and then My Topics. From there you can see the many links in a more orderly arrangement. http://www.furl.net/members/TruthTeller

Furl has different ways to share these links on blogs and web pages. I have experimented but so far not got it right.
