STARTED GOING
September 20, 2005
3 appointments have been set and 2 more to reach the initial goal of 5. These baby steps are crucial to get me into motion.
The five stages of the fund raising process are Go, Show, Tell, Ask and Thank. While I may have been frightened about the Ask part for years I can never get beyond that until I first into the HABIT of first Going.
Then as I Show and Tell the visual aids plus words I say will improve with practice. Finally I will only be bumping that Ask wall. On the other side of that wall are MANY dollars for the ministry and thus my modest salary.
Every day I am more convinced of the high value of what Four Bridges will offer the greater Body of Christ locally and regionally. When the workers are connected to their fields and partners then MUCH truth and love will pass over those 4 bridges.
SPECIFICS
On Wednesday at 11:30 I have lunch with a key associate pastor. He lived in New Orleans for 20 years. He has been here in Dallas for 12. He has been involved in the local service to the evacuees and has a great concern for the rebuild in the affected areas.
On Thursday at 1:30 I meet with a staff member that has been a pastor and greatly involved in church planting. The long term out look for the evacuees and those who return includes many possible church plants. Also he has contacts with possible major donors. I have known him for years and could agree to be one of my references when I call on major donors.
On Friday at 9:30 I meet with the man who is responsible for alumni and church relations. I will show him what I have done and plan to do in order to better link the independent Bible churches in DFW as well as in the affected areas. He can give much wisdom and insight. Also I have known him for years and could agree to be one of my references when I call on major donors.
At this moment I do not have any visual aids related to this presentation. There are several partial Power Point slide shows. Mostly these meeting are to just get into motion and discuss with those I know the general ideas.
SATURDAY
I will be off work on Saturday and I need to concentrate on creating the diagram that has been simmering in my mind. One poster sized graphic can convey most of what I hope to offer the evacuees, hosts and those involved in the rebuilding. It will show how a CD that is packed with useful information and education can both benefit many people plus draw them back to the new web site. After they come to the site then there will be various reasons for them to come back.
